Fabric Distric Finds

Not much new, at least not in the way of sewing. But I'm home in the Bay Area, and I'm getting close to being fully unpacked (I think I only have 4 boxes and a bin left to go?) And once I find The Cut of Women's Clothes, I can start prepping for my polonaise. I hit up the LA fabric district on my way up here, and I found lots of lovely stuff! It was my first time there, and I only had a couple of hours (and a limited budget), but I pretty much walked up 9th, and wound up with some beautiful white cotton with a red floral print (for my polonaise) for $2/yd. So I got 10 yds! I also bought a whole bunch of random findings, like rhinestone slider buckles, silk flowers, pearl trim, and even a pearl tiara for $7 total. And as I was giving up on finding affordable blue silk taffeta, I stopped in a store on the way back to the car, and they had two lovely shades of blue silk taffeta for $6/yd!! I got 7 yds because I figured that would be plenty for a zone front, and I really don't have much money right now. I just hope I remember that store the next time I manage to get to the fashion district!

And on a CoCo note, are we supposed to hear back on if we got our classes once we sent the forms in? Because my forms went in on the 14th, and I haven't heard anything...

Also, still deciding on Costume Academy... Some of the classes do interest me, but at this point, I think lack of money will win out. I'm also debating about going to the Ball of the Gods, though I don't have anything thematic to wear, so it might not happen.

But as soon as my sewing machine is unpacked, I will be able to start sewing again! I can't wait. It has been way too long, and I feel like I have sooo much I need to make. Right now, my list is 18th c polonaise, 1890s afternoon dress (for the PEERs picnic in August and the tea at CoCo), picnic-wear for my parents, the zone-front, a Victorian ballgown so I can go to Gaskell balls, and who knows what else. I'm so anxious to start sewing again! And who knows, maybe I'll even find time somehow to find a job and finish my quilted petticoat by CoCo...
